L G B T?

LGBT is an initialism that stands for Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) but what I know for sure is that these 4 words mean a lot more. The term LGBT or GLBT or LGBTQ was adopted in the 1990s and refers to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (and queer) people. However, the term is not without contention with some groups, who want to be included, and others who don’t want to be included. They are an integral part of our society and still we choose to ignore them. Homosexuals are normal people just like us, it’s just that they love their own sexes. Seems pretty normal, right? Well, it is. Bisexuality is being attracted to both men and women (IT NEED NOT BE 50-50).Well, Transgender people are the ones who psychologically have feelings of opposite sex and feel entrapped in wrong body. Like a trans-woman will be biologically male but psychologically female and has normal male genitals.

Now, coming to why should we take a stand for it. Well, No research has conclusively proven what causes homosexuality, heterosexuality, or bisexuality. If ignoring them was not enough, which I feel would be fine by them but nah, we as people of the society do not know our limits and we have been mistreating this community since a long time. Well, I started asking people what is LGBT and it is really sad that many of us aren’t even aware of the community. I mean why? Since when have we been so ignorant that we overlook upon a whole community. It is really sad that we think homosexuality is disturbing. We have certain misconception about the community and we don’t even bother to clear them out. Instead, we obviously have to make fun out of it. Yes, I agree that making fun is a normal thing but not on this really. I’ll tell you why, first of all these people have difficulties in adjusting to normal life because we have created such an environment for them. They don’t feel good enough to come out on their own in the fear whether or not they will be accepted by society.

What I feel is homosexuality is not a disease. Imagine someone defying your basic rights to do whatever you want. That’s what is happening to these guys since a very long time and they have to live with it, all thanks to us.

Being a lesbian, gay, bisexual or a transgender isn’t a choice. If it was a choice, when did we choose to be “straight” or whatever we call it.

I strongly feel that we should take a stand for them because that is who they are, like it’s really that simple. We should realize that they are human beings just like me and you, my friend and their sexual orientation or desires are totally NATURAL like they aren’t modified or something. Defying them is like defying nature which is pretty much illogical. I pledge my support to the LGBT community. In the end, I am proud to say that the cause for Parvaah, social initiative of K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering is LGBT and it gave me a chance to know the community better.
